Here are details regarding the upcoming season. The program offers a boy's team & a girl's team, but does not separate by grades--6th graders are welcome to try out. Here are details regarding the upcoming AMS Coed Soccer season--PLEASE NOTE: due to a scheduling conflict, the gender-specific tryouts are being switched; Boys only on Mon & Girls only on Tue.The program is Coed, offering Varsity & JV levels with practices after school most days & playing a 10-game schedule in April/May.TryoutsMon, Mar. 9 -- Boys only 6/7/8th grade tryouts at the AMS Upper Field from 3:30-5:00pmTue, Mar. 10 -- Girls only 6/7/8th grade tryouts at the AMS Upper Field from 3:30-5:00pmWed, Mar. 11 -- Combined tryouts at the AMS Upper Field from 3:30-5:00pmIn order to try out, a current physical must be on-file with the building nurse. Some athletic success last Sat, with 7th grade VB winning their opening round Regional match vs Roxana. They'll be taking on Edw-Liberty today at 4:30pm. Our Wrestling team finished in 2nd place at the Cahokia IESA Regional. 11 individuals advanced to Sectionals this Sat in Jacksonville. They are: 3rd place qualifiers: Joey Schwank, Gavril Loidimu & Rayne Henry2nd place finishers: Gavin St Peters, Sawyer Wock, Jayden Williams & Lilian MintonRegional Champions: Landon Wilson-O'brien, Blake Jones, Jake Wilson & Nyjhaun Powell

Competition Cheer squad qualifies for ICCA

Congratulations to the Alton Middle School Cheerleader Competition Team for qualifying for the Illinois Cheerleading Championships and placing 3rd in their division. They will be competing again next Sunday in Edwardsville for a higher title.

A reminder for Girls Volleyball tryouts this week, as follows:Mon/Tue, Dec. 8/9 -- 7th & 8th grade tryouts in the Annex gym from 3:30-5:00pmWed/Thu, Dec, 10/11 -- 6th grade tryouts in the Annex gym from 3:30-5:00pmAlso, there will be a Bowling informational meeting on Thu, Dec. 11 during Advisory in the Annex cafeteria. Students will go to Advisory for attendance & the released at 2:50pm to go to the meeting.In order to try out, a current physical must be on-file with the building nurse. This is a reminder that Girls' Basketball tryouts begin next Mon, Sept. 15 in the College gym from 3:30-5:15pm for any 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls. AMS supports 8th grade & 7th grade teams that compete in the Metro East Athletic Conference and a 6th grade team that plays in a league at Trimpe MS (Bethalto).Those interested in participating should contact AMS Athletic Director Scott Harper by email (sharper@altonschools.org) to receive an Admit Card identifying tryout requirements are met. Remember, you must have a current physical on-file with your building nurse AND complete the athletic registration paperwork (2 documents) on-line through Healthy Roster.
